I think Sanga played overall dumb, really throwing away some games, just as the two where we let Tokyo FC equalize in the last minute (twice!). The difference between Sanga and the two going back down is that Sanga bought Yanagisawa, Sato and during the season fixed a few things with Fernandinho and Mizumoto. If you give those four to sapporo, I am sure they would have stayed up. BTW, there were two teams between Sanga and the 16th place!
Still, sometimes it's having the intelligence to just get the right players. Tokyo put all of it's eggs in Hulk's basket and then had to depend on Diego, which very well could have worked if he wasn't overly aggressive close to season's end.
Anyone's first year against all new opponents will be the toughest. I expect Kyoto will pull together well and finish higher next year.

More than what can be said for Sapporo and Tokyo's abilities!
Staying in J1 is just rewards for playing things smart on and offthe field unlike certain other 2007 promotees.
